0807.9.10 Identify the Reactants and Products of a Chemical Reaction.

When a chemical reaction occurs, it can be described by an equation. This shows the chemicals that react (called the reactants) on the left-hand side, and the chemicals that they produce (called the products) on the right-hand side. The chemicals can be represented by their names or by their chemical symbols.

Reactant- A substance participating in a chemical reaction, especially a directly reacting substance present at the initiation of the reaction. Which means its on the left side.

Product- A substance that is produced during a chemical reaction. Which means its on the right side.

Chemical equation- uses chemical symbols and formulas to describe a chemical reactions. Which means it makes it easier to figue out.

Law of conservation of mass-states that matter cannot be created or destroyed during a physical or chemical change. Which means the mass of the reactants = mass of the products.

Chemical formula- a set of symbols showing what atoms make up a compound. Which means chemical initials.
